In 1898, Don Justo Murúa set up a traditional barrel-making workshop in Elciego (Rioja Alavesa region). In 1920, he moved the business to Logroño, where he founded TONELERIA MECANICA RIOJANA, S.A., one of Europe’s first cooperages. His son, Don Donato Murúa continued to bring success to the business by expanding markets and obtaining international recognition. Today, the business is run by the fourth generation of the family, who maintain the traditional quality of each barrel, enhancing it with the latest technological advances.
