The oak: a living matter

The comprehensive knowledge we have gained over the years has given us the experience to be able to select the best specimens of fine-grain oak. The ecosystem of the trees determines the type of grain and aromas that the wood will add to the wine.
Only certain species of Quercus Alba from the Appalachian forest regions of the USA, such as Ohio, West Virginia or the North Appalachian region, are used by our cooperage.
The split French oak used to make French barrels, Quercus Petraea, comes from forests in the Föret du Centre, Troncais, Allier and Nevers regions of France. Fine-grain Central-European Quercus Petraea is also obtained from forests in Hungary.
